Marketing Flash: Marketing Needs People

A prospect called me and complained that his sales had dramatically dropped a few weeks after he saved money by cutting the marketing team to zero staff!
The longer version of the story was that his £6m turnover business cut marketing four years ago and when times got hard he'd cut some more. A month ago he'd sacked the last member of staff and shared the work out between the admin team.
His turnover is now £3m and he's not sure why things are going pear shaped.
I'm not sure he'd understand my answer or even agree with it!
